Great Example of Data Mining for Improvement

I thought I would share a TED talk that I recently found. It is very tong and cheek about TED itself but if you work your way past all of the humor that is involved, you well find that the speaker is presenting an executive summary of a very in depth text mining project. He breaks down the results by the different categories that he had to impose on the data in order for the results to be usable. What I think is most important from the presentation is the fact that he presents how the results of his data mining can be used to improve, or make worse, the topic of the project. Its really cool to be able to understand a data set or topic better, but we can't forget the point of data mining is to get the insight and use it for something meaningful.
