Golf Animated Visualization
Animated Visualization of the 2011 PGA Championship at East Lake. Includes time illustration of the overall tournament score, analysis of Approach Shot Distance to Pin vs Approach Shot Proximity %, and analysis of Made Putt Distance vs Made Putt % of Approach Shot Proximity.
After watching this, I was interested what was out therein reference to golf and big data. I found this video: http://finance.yahoo.com/blogs/big-data-download/serious-golfer-swing-analytics-181938346.html. In it, a guy describes a sensor that collects data about your swing for every swing you take. I find it interesting that this has not been used as soon as we had the technology. Instead of paying a trainer big bucks to tell you what you are doing wrong with your swing, you can pay a one time fee to get infinite amounts of data on your swing (this data has potential beyond what the eye can see). In the video he describes a person that discovered he had an outside in swing and because of this knowledge he could concentrate on fixing that and furthermore getting the perfect swing.
