Growth, It’s all your fault Big Data

Big Data Analytics is being used everywhere by companies to gain any competitive edge they can over their competition. This has produced higher profits and tremendously helped smaller companies survive in an extremely competitive market. There are all kinds of information about that around the web but this blog will be looking into other growth that Big Data Analytics has inadvertently caused.

The most obvious advancement caused by the new capabilities has been the advancement of data storage. With everyone collection extremely large amounts of data the computer storage has struggled to keep up. This has pushed several new companies to develop better super computers to handle the large computation power needed to analyze the data collected by almost everyone at this point.  This has also caused several cloud type storage such as the Amazon cloud service we use for our big data class.

Companies are now learning even more about their own company than they could have ever imagined. For example, a company may start out trying to make more money but end up realizing that their real issue is employee satisfaction and that their company needs to restructure. This could be found by analyzing survey data or possibly social media postings from the employees. If they are telling the world your company is bad to work for, chances are you will develop a bad reputation which will eventually hurt your profit.

Since the capability of analyzing the data has been increased it seems that people want to produce more data to analyze. Before this analysis was possible, many ideas would be shot down just because there wasn’t a good way to know if it was worth pursuing but now that is different. Now virtually endless amounts of data are being collected from everything that can produce data so that we can gain a better understanding of life as we know it. This involves everything from how humans function and why we are the way we are to what lies in the deep dark depths of outer space.

Big data has truly sparked some amazing new ideas that before wouldn’t have been possible. No one knows what the future for Big Data Analytics will be but the impact it has already made on our world will never be forgotten. The advancements made today have taken us to places we have never been before.  In the future there will be new great things that companies will move on to but many of will have to contribute their success to the information gained from analyzing the vast amounts of data being collected around the world.
