This video is a research exchange seminar which is presented
by Dr. Ram Akella, University of California Berkeley technology and information
management professor. Dr. Akella makes this presentation about his research
based on extensive interactions with Silicon Valley and some organizations like
AOL, SAP, Cisco, and IBM. Dr. Akella pays his research attention on Hierarchical
Bayesian models and Bayesian Kalman filtering. In addition, he talks about
several problems such as online advertising and attribution modeling, Big Data
and scarcity issues, energy analytics for building energy optimization, topic
modeling, and information extraction and retrieval in service centers. With
online advertising and attribution modeling, he talks about credit for user
commercial actions to advertisement revelation. Moreover, he portrays aggregate
methods and disaggregates methods, which are used to analyze incorrect A/B
testing approaches. In addition, based on Bayesian Kalman filtering, Dr. Akella
will point out some similar parts on different approaches when he talks about
energy analytics for building energy optimization.
In this video, the video via asking questions to give a
guide about how to use big data to make smarter decisions, is your company’s
data growing? What challenges will your company face as a result of your growing
data? Will your business struggle with large amounts of data? How can you turn
big data from being a problem into being an opportunity? Ever hear of big data
analytics? Are the decision makers in your company using analytics today? When
will analytics reach mainstream adoption within your company? How will big data
analytics change your business?
